Proofs and Essays, available worldwide at Io Collezionista. This category gathers items connected to particular stages in the making of a stamp: printing proofs, for instance, used to check that the marginal inscriptions and the composition of a plate as a whole are correct, and colour proofs, but also essays, both private, in short the draft stamps produced by those commissioned to make them, which could later be altered on the instructions of the client, and official, being finished stamps demonetised by typed or handwritten overwriting or by punch holes.
