27/1/1934 - KINGDOM OF ITALY - First Rome to Buenos Aires postal flight - Registered illustrated postcard from Florence 22/1/34, carried on the Rome to Buenos Aires flight, franked with a 3 on 2 Lire overprinted Airmail (Sassone 57) plus a 1,75 Lire Imperiale (254). The aircraft for this flight was a "Savoia Marchetti S71" flown by the aviators Lombardi and Mazzotti. The mail carried amounted to 2800 registered aerogrammes and 4000 ordinary ones; unfortunately a fault forced an emergency landing at Fortaleza in Brazil and the load was sent on by Pan American Airways.
