ITALY 1950

Italy 1950 stamps, available worldwide from Io Collezionista. In October 1950 parliament passed the important legge stralcio no. 841, better known as the agrarian reform. The country has seen other land reforms in its history, but several historians describe the 1950 act as one of the most significant of the post-war period. Its measures included the compulsory expropriation of land from large landowners and its redistribution to farm workers, with the aim of making them independent and creating a new generation of smallholders. The reform was funded in large part by money made available by the USA under the Marshall Plan. The main Stamps category holds other subcategories devoted to particular historical periods, such as Italian States stamps and Italian Colonies stamps.
