In November 1962, the year to which the Italian Republic stamps in this subcategory belong, the first issue of Diabolik reached Italian newsstands, a comic created by the Giussani sisters: Angela created the character, while Luciana helped write the scripts from issue 14 onwards. Regarded as the forerunner of the Italian black comic, within a few years it reached very high print runs and became a genuine social phenomenon.
