ITALY 1968

Italian Republic stamps from 1968, for sale at Io Collezionista. 1968 is the year of the student movement and of the protests that, decades later, still divide two distinct schools of thought: those who see it as a genuine moment of rupture, revolution and civic growth, and those who see it as a mere whim of the bored children of the middle class attempting to bring down that same middle class system. Although the protest movement became a mass phenomenon only in 1968, its origins reach back to 1966, the year of the first occupation of an Italian university, the sociology faculty at Trento, and of the scandal raised by the students of the Parini Lyceum in Milan with an inquiry into the sex education of young female students published in the school magazine La Zanzara. Among the Italian Republic stamps of 1968 of greatest interest at Io Collezionista is a 100 Lire stamp from 1968. The main Stamps category also offers other subcategories devoted to specific historical periods, such as Italian States Stamps and Italian Colonies Stamps.
