ITALY 1969
Italian Republic stamps from 1969, available worldwide at Io Collezionista. 1969, and in particular the autumn that historians would later call the Hot Autumn, is the year the protests of the working world broke out. Joining forces with the student movement of 1968, they created a genuine short circuit in Italian business, which faced frequent strikes, widespread absenteeism and repeated sabotage in the plants. The protests of the Hot Autumn mattered a great deal because they laid the ground for the passing of law no. 300 of 20 May 1970, better known as the Workers' Statute. Among the most interesting Italian Republic stamps issued in 1969 are a numbered postcard of 1969 and 10 stamps of 500 Lire from 1969 bearing the effigy of Donatello's Saint George. The main Stamps category also offers other subcategories devoted to specific historical periods, such as Italian States Stamps and Italian Colonies Stamps.
