ITALY 1971

Italian Republic stamps from 1971, available online at Io Collezionista. In 1971, the year these Italian Republic stamps were issued, the Constitutional Court struck down article 553 of the Criminal Code, which banned the use of contraceptives and any promotion of their use and carried up to 1 year in prison for offenders. It was without doubt an important victory for AIED, the Italian association for demographic education, founded in 1953 and long engaged in the fight for the civil rights of women and of couples. Among the Italian Republic stamps of 1971 offered by Io Collezionista is a 180 Lire stamp from 1971. The main Stamps category also offers other subcategories devoted to specific historical periods, such as Italian States Stamps and Italian Colonies Stamps.
