Italy 1991 stamps, available worldwide from Io Collezionista. On 4 January 1991, the year these Italian Republic stamp issues refer to, a carabinieri patrol on duty was hit by several gunshots. The officers had tried to note the number plate of a suspicious car, a white Fiat Uno, near the Pilastro district of Bologna. All three carabinieri on duty lost their lives in that attack, also known as the Pilastro massacre.
