Cattaro (Kotor)

Cattaro Issues Stamps for sale at Io Collezionista. Cattaro, today Kotor, is a small town in Montenegro on the Adriatic. The Italian occupation of the area lasted only a few years, from 1941 to 1943 to be precise. It was the military campaign of General Vittorio Ambrosio that brought Cattaro and the surrounding territories under the control of the Kingdom of Italy. Shortly afterwards the province of Cattaro was created, alongside those of Spalato and Zara, all answering to the Governorate of Dalmatia. As with other Italian occupations, Italy's exit from the Axis and the proclamation of the armistice in September 1943 ended the Italian presence in the area. You can see further stamps of Montenegro in the European Countries Stamps subcategory of the main Stamps category.
