Teramo
Teramo Issues Stamps, available online at Io Collezionista. The origins of Teramo, a town in Abruzzo with about 55 thousand inhabitants, go back to the 3rd century BC, when the Pretuzi and the Piceni held full control of the area known as Aprutium, from which the name of the region Abruzzo would derive. In the last two years of the Second World War Teramo came briefly under the jurisdiction of the Italian Social Republic (RSI), better known as the Republic of Salo, the puppet regime willed by the Germans and handed to Mussolini in the aftermath of his release from imprisonment on the Gran Sasso in September 1943. The low value of 25 cent. green (3) is missing; the set does include the two high values, 1 Lira violet (8) and 75 cent. Airmail (14). Superb condition (Cat. Teramo 1944 RSI Overprinted 16v. Set, Used CTO - LOTTO/401321944 TERAMO ISSUE - Kingdom stamps overprinted "Repubblica Sociale Italiana" (Cat. Sassone 1/16).
