Trieste Zone A (AMG-FTT)

Trieste Zone A stamps, available from anywhere in the world at Io Collezionista. This category gathers all the stamps of the period between 1947, the year of the Treaty of Paris, and the London Memorandum of 1954. In 1947 Trieste became the Free Territory of Trieste, placed under the protection of the United Nations and divided into administrative Zone A and Zone B: the first was assigned temporarily to the Allies, the second to the Yugoslav army. After the memorandum the Allies handed Zone A to Italy, while Zone B effectively became part of Yugoslavia. Nine years later Trieste would finally become the capital of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. You can see further stamps of the Kingdom of Italy in the Kingdom of Italy Stamps subcategory of the main Stamps category.
