DUBAI

Dubai stamps for sale at Io Collezionista. Unlike its neighbouring states, Dubai has considerably less oil and has therefore sought to diversify its interests by turning to other sectors, tourism, ICT and finance in particular. Dubai Internet City and the Dubai Technology, Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone Authority are a clear example of a policy aimed at attracting foreign companies and investors: among the many firms in the technology district are IBM, Oracle and Microsoft. Other symbols of Dubai include the Palm Islands, artificial peninsulas that recall the shape of the tree of the same name, and The World, an archipelago of 300 islands which, seen from above, trace the globe and its continents on the sea. The name Dubai comes from the Arabic word Dubay, which can be rendered as to creep, lizard or small locust.
