Syria

Syria stamps for sale at Io Collezionista. For several years Syria has been at the centre of the geopolitical agenda of the world's major powers because of the delicate and complex internal situation that broke down in 2011: while at first the Arab Spring brought a series of demands, for wider individual freedoms among them, and peaceful protests, the government's refusal and the violent repression that followed gave rise to the FSA, the Free Syrian Army, and to the outbreak of a civil war whose end was not then in sight. Exploiting Syria's internal instability, ISIS also managed to establish itself in the area; the Kurdish militias, supported by the bombing of the international coalition, succeeded over the years in pushing ISIS back and finally taking its last stronghold, Baghouz, in March 2019.
